Tools for the Journey

Recently I was reading National Geographic (yes, published in April, but National Geographic none the less).  The article was about summitting K2.  While the article was great, it was one picture that really caught my eye.
From  http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2012/04/k2/brown-text
If you can ignore the incredible mountain scenery, look a bit more closely at the two hikers backpacks.  Can you see how different they are?  Each has the gear that they need and part of the group gear.  I think this is the perfect description for how we can best approach each stage of life.  We are always doing our bit to take care of our family and friends, but we also need to pack the gear to take care of ourselves.
Right now I am in a time of taking care of others.  The day has loads of phone calls and errands that were not here two weeks ago and (hopefully) will be gone soon, but in the mean time, I need to pack the gear to take care of myself.  To figure this out, I need to look at my history.
In times like this, the first thing I do is stop taking remedies.  Since I have lived for 45 years among the chemicals and stresses of modern life, I am usually taking an herbal or vibropathic supplement for some condition (right now, it is 3 vibropathics).   Also, I check for best practices, some habits that will benefit my life for this season (like taking an epsom salt bath each night or using the Hanna Kroeger laser light on thyroid and thymus, check and check).  Once I leave these behind, the next thing I do is start to eat junk food (and by junk food I don't mean chips and beer, just food that is not good for me).  If I can keep to the remedies and good practices, then I am home free.  To reference the picture above,  I have brought my sleeping pad and ice pick instead of doritos and flip flops.
How to break this pattern of decay?  I recommend a chart.  I have never outgrown a progress chart, though I can't find the great gold star stickers that my teachers used to put on their charts.
Here is mine for this week (I took the picture on my new table for my meditation corner.  I love the vibrant cloth cover and the ability to put the stones I want near at hand).  A few things to notice, it is important to be honest with yourself, rather than put an x in the box for something half done.  I figure 80%-90% compliance is just fine in stressful times.  Before I took to making charts, I was 0% compliant.  Also, something cool, in my last post I mentioned taking your temperature and drinking lemon water to alkalize the body.  Since I began two and a half weeks ago, my morning temperature has raised about a degree and a half.  It is not normal yet, but what a difference.  The funny thing is I thought I felt great before I began, now I'm learning great can get better.  It's like when the doctor asks you about pain levels.  You may think you are at a pain level of 10.  Break a bone. that feeling of bone grating on bone is a whole new experience.

The difference between one good feeling and another is really summed up by this picture.  Here we are, out on a balcony on an Alaskan cruise, looking at the glaciers.  Both of us are engaged and interested, having a good time.  To quote my feeling above, "feeling great."  My son is in a t-shirt and jeans.  I have on his jacket, my jacket, gloves, a fleece, and a long sleeved t-shirt.  There is feeling great, and feeling great with lots of health.
Keeping with my check list is the first step into my feeling great days.

Love Your Liver: or how to surround the dragon

Have you ever watched the television show House?  I used to love watching how the group of doctors took a number of symptoms and kept looking at the patient from different angles to come up with a diagnosis.  They would write it all up on a board, ponder and pace.  They would try different medicines and somehow at 55 minutes into the show come up with a miraculous solution (usually).  The process is called differential diagnosis
If you were trying to apply this to energy healing (and, I am), we start in the same place.  What are the symptoms?  What in our life or our client's life is not working and could use a little help?  We could go on for days, but let's not.  I like to gather a symptom list so we can look for improvements, not to diagnose.  Remember in energy healing we do not diagnose, treat, or cure (it would be illegal!)
In any given situation, some healing steps are universal.  We want to create conditions in the body where it can just heal itself.  So we look at the terrain.

  1. Does your body run cold?  Take your temperature each morning upon rising.  A body temperature routinely under 98.2 has a hard time burning off predators (bacteria, viruses, etc.)
  2. What is your pH?  Use Nature's Sunshine pH Test Strips 100 strips  first thing in the morning to check salivary pH before eating or drinking anything.  Ideally your body is neutral (pH of 7).
  3. Look at your diet.  Try to eat on the alkalizing side of the chart.
  4. Drink warm lemon water twice a day.  Use the juice from half a lemon and pure water (I use the Soma Board, Water Revitalizer and the Wings of Genesis on my water, as well as filtering it) This not only cuts down on the mucus in the body, but it alkalizes as well. (Tip from experience, do not buy the big beautiful lemons that beckon in shining piles, go for that bag of organic lemons.  Not only are they smaller and chemical free, but they are also easier to juice.  The first time I tried this, I used a large lemon.  The water was almost undrinkable!)
  5. Watch the Quantum K video.  The video is 23 minutes and seems a bit odd on first look.  I have found the quantum K numbers to be very effective in my practice and this is an easy way to use them. The last section on Spiritual Healing references some beliefs that I do not hold, but it is mixed with a lot of things about forgiveness that I wouldn't want to miss.  You'll have to decide for yourself.

The next places to work are more Peter Pan than gardening. Just think lovely thoughts.

  1. My first stop is Louise Hay's   Heal Your Body A-Z: The Mental Causes for Physical Illness and the Way to Overcome Them.  For the liver she suggests the probable cause is that the liver is the seat of anger and primitive emotions.  Her healing affirmation is  "Love and peace and joy are what I know."  Tape the affirmation to your bathroom mirror and say it to your self several times in the morning and evening.  Keep it in your wallet or use it as a bookmark.
  2. In Jin Shin Jyutsu, liver is attached to middle finger (anger).  Hold the middle finger with the opposite hand.  If you'd like to make this stronger, say to yourself "I release all anger."
  3. Young Living Oil of Transformation.  Get a little help with the anger, use some of this oil. By replacing negative beliefs with revitalizing new thought patterns, a transformation in behaviors, emotions, and attitudes is possible.  I found some advice to use it with polarity yoga.  I have never tried this, but if I'm working on the liver, why not try something new.  I'm not sure if I could stop laughing which is a great tonic for anger.
There are just so many more things to do than take a pill.  Only two of these suggestions take any thing other than your body and a few groceries.  After coming up with your own list of symptoms and remedies, give it a try.  Most of these suggestions will help with any condition.  After a few weeks, assess your progress by running through your symptom list.  Drinking lemon water and eating a bit cleaner raised my body temperature a full degree in about two weeks.
I love how energy healing has broadened my world.  Be Blessed.

A Step in the Right Direction

(A few weeks ago, I decided I was going to learn to love Facebook and other social media.  Though I have had lots of help from friends and family,  I just can't seem to make it work for me or my business.  I needed to dig a little deeper to find the cause of my dis- ease. I began the process of changing a belief.  The work sheet is here.)

Starting Small, step 3, defines where to work and the small steps to take. When I look over the Day 1 list, I see the word afraid four times in only 7 sentences.    This needs to be the first place to work.  Darn it! Learning something physical is always so much easier...  Maybe I'll approach me like a client who I am working with.  What would I recommend for someone else to begin with?

My first thought is always reiki.  It's so easy, always at hand, and feels good while you do it.  So my list begins with- Send reiki to the relationship between myself and strangers.  I love sending reiki to relationships because then I don't have do define any further.  If I send it to my marriage, my husband and I communicate better.  What more could a girl ask for?
Then I move on to the Nu|vision program.  Using name and date and place of birth, it creates an energetic hologram.  This is then run against over 30,000 conditions, causes and remedies.  The affirmations suggested are "The more I love, the more that love is returned to me." and "I know that the world is prosperous.  I notice prosperity all around me."  Interesting, not only did it catch my fear of people judging or being mean, the second affirmation deals with all of the negative information people put online.

My third stop is Help One Another: An Anthology of the Teachings and Remedies of Hanna Kroeger.  The remedy I checked for is calendula tea, prescribed to treat ulcers and prevent muscle spasms, among other conditions.  This one is interesting.  I didn't even know I was afraid until I looked a few days ago, now all of these physical results.  It is a very clear example of our feelings creating physical symptoms.  I have had tight muscles and an uneasy stomach for years.

This photo is from Spiral Way Jin Shin Jyutsu, with gratitude.
My final recommendation to help with fear is Jin Shin Jyutsu.  Part of the practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu is finger holds.  Each finger has a channel of energy that is related to a series of emotions.  Holding onto the finger restores the energetic pathway and begins to heal the emotions.  I first learned about the finger holds while teaching my oldest son to drive.  Since I have no depth perception, it was very hard to trust that he was not going to bang into "that pole right there!"  I asked my reiki master for help and this was her recommendation.  The index finger is related to fear and panic, that sounds just up my alley right now.
Rather than do it all, step 3 is start small. I'll start with the reiki and finger hold.  These I can do at any time.   So I resolve to give 10 minutes of reiki a day to my relationship with strangers and do the index finger hold 3 times per day.  Tomorrow it is on to Step 4: Describe.

Step 1 Beginner's Mind
Step 2 Focus

(An interesting dowsing side note:  When I was dowsing Help One Another, the Hanna Kroeger compendium, and asked the three initial questions, I got some funny answers that may shed a bit of light on the troubles of learning to ask a question.
The three questions I always begin with- May I? Can I? Should I?  When I asked May I?  The answer was a clear yes.  Can I? was a no.  My first thought was, what do you mean no.  Then I asked "Is the answer in this book?" the answer was no.  When I asked "Will it be beneficial for the post?" the answer was yes.   So I knew before I began that the remedies in Hanna's book were not my first step for the solution to this problem.)

A Little Help from my Friends

It was time.  I couldn't put it off any longer.  Today was the day to write "the letter."  There was an aspect of my business lingering in limbo and it needed to be released.  First I wracked my brain, then I searched the web for templates.  Those first few attempts were unfortunate to say the least.  It was time to ask for help.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to hear guidance while confused?  Well, I'm not there yet.  Guidance during a reiki session or while teaching and counseling is easy.  When you don't have a horse in the race it is easy to be calm about the winner (and loser.)  Now, however, I was looking for a graceful exit strategy and was coming up with a whole lot of nothing.  Meditation wasn't happening so I went back to basics, dowsing basics that is.
This is a picture of the opening page of Help One Another, an anthology of the teachings of Hanna Kroeger.  The pink post it notes remind me to slow down and open to grace while dowsing.  The first says "Open Pineal."  A little information in the pineal and how to open it are in this article on my website.  After opening the pineal gland,  the next note says "May I? Can I? Should I?"  These important questions must all be answered yes, to move on to the next step.  May I? asks if this is permissible.  For example, if I wanted to dowse one of my adult sons, I first need their permission.  A question without permission invades their privacy.  Can I? addresses the issue of am I able and is this knowable.  Should I?  Is this a question that it is good for me to ask and answer at this time?
After preparation I turned to my angel cards.  I like these cards, not for the pictures or booklet that came with them, but rather for all the positive words.  They are quite useful for blessing houses, distance reiki and getting to the root of problems.  Here they are, the cards and my pendulum.  I prefer the Hanna Kroeger steel pendulum because it is light and fits easily in my pocket or purse, but I have even used my hoodie strings as a pendulum in the grocery store.  The weight doesn't seem to matter much.
I'll break the deck into sections asking "Is the card with my answer in this stack?" over and over.  If a stack gets a no it is set to the side, if the answer is yes, fan the cards out and ask the pendulum to point to the card or cards that apply.
For tonight's question, here was my answer.
This is where intuition comes into play.  Really, Playfulness?  After quiet reflection I realized I was taking myself way too seriously, again.  Ten minutes later the letter was finished, proofread and printed.  I love great advice and who better to ask.

Reiki and Affirmations

2012.  A time of great change.  Everyone agrees.  It doesn’t seem to matter if you are trying to fix the Euro or following the Mayan calendar.  This is the year to take us all by storm.
This morning I heard a wonderful piece on Nora Ephron, an American filmmaker and author who died today.  I don’t have the exact quote but she was talking about how aging is one of those things that you think happens only to other people.  What a surprise when that is not true.  I feel the same way about 2012 and the Great Transformation.  Wasn’t I just going to observe it?  Turns out, it has been more like standing in a tunnel with an oncoming train.
With each challenge, opportunity also enters.  This year of great challenge has lead to experimenting with reiki and energy work like never before.  Some of my old tricks are not enough to keep up with where I am going, so I have been trying new things like using reiki to empower affirmations.  In the past I have used affirmations from Louise Hay’s book You Can Heal Your Life (Gift Edition)  and in giving attunements, but I have never used the same one for more than a few days.  This year I have given my affirmations quite a workout.
Change has always been difficult for me.  I’m the one searching out the new thing, trying the next step, but there is a well of reserve within me.  Have you ever gone to preschool and watched a child pulled away from the parent, apparently inconsolable?  If you watch them for a few minutes, soon the tears dry and the child engages in the classroom.  When it comes to change, I am both the child and the teacher trying to pull the child away.  Let’s just say it’s hard to play both sides at the same time.
Over the years I have sent loads of reiki, taken remedies and meditated, trying a variety of solutions.  Each of these has only been marginally effective.  When I tried Access Hanna Express, I was given the affirmation “I am willing to change.”  When I read it, I had the same feeling as putting on a great pair of jeans or my most comfortable shoes.  It fit perfectly.
I began work with it about a week ago.  I could feel the energy shifting as I said it aloud and gave it energy.  The first thing I noticed is that it would resolve minor physical complaints, like a stomach ache I didn’t know that I had until it went away.  The little things that the body does to tell us we are going astray.  The big confirmation came yesterday.  Tuesday is yoga day for the blog, so I teach a class in the morning, then tape and post a YouTube video of some aspect of that class in the afternoon and evening.  As I was watching one of the takes for the video, my first thought was how good I look. Now, just between you and I, my flaws are many and varied, but they were not my first impression.  Rather than finding faults, I saw strengths.
That little affirmation, 5 short words, changed a major bias.  Our society is obsessed with perfection; the perfect face, the perfect voice, the perfect demonstration.   After years of standing in the mirror saying “I love you” to myself, it turns out, I do.  What a great place to be.
